Maureen McCormick Interview

(CSC) 1. You’ve been quite busy lately! Please tell me about your NEW book, “Here’s The Story- Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice.”

(Maureen McCormick)

Well it’s a book that I wrote from my heart of hearts, and it tells about all of my ups and downs in life. I’m hoping that it will just reach out to a lot of people, and help them know that you can go through hard times, get out of them, and have a great life! I’ve really opened myself up completely with this book. There’s a lot of things in it that I always wanted to say, but up until this time, hadn’t been able to.

(CSC) 2. Being a well known public figure did you find it challenging revealing very detailed personal information about yourself and your past in this memoir?

(Maureen McCormick)

I did, but if I was going to do a book, I had to have it be totally honest about myself, my life, and the hardships that I faced.

(CSC) 3. When did you first pursue your acting career in show business, and how did that all begin for you?

(Maureen McCormick)

I started out when I was just seven years old, and I began when I won a baby “Miss San Fernando” ballet contest that my parents had entered me into. It was a really memorable experience for me starting out that young. I guess after that, the rest is history! (Laughs)

(CSC) 4. Your most famous character in television history, “Marcia Brady” from the Brady Bunch has touched the hearts of millions of people through different generations. Being a part of that show, what was it like living up to the image of the picture perfect family?

(Maureen McCormick)

Really hard because you know nobody’s perfect and I kind of found myself trying to be perfect, I tried to be just like Marcia Brady. I discovered that you can’t really do that in life. It just doesn’t work out that way even though you may want it to. I finally came to terms with that later in my life.

(CSC) 5. I understand that you had dreams of pursuing a career in country music as a singer? Please tell me about that!

(Maureen McCormick)

Well it was something that I did have the opportunity to do years and years ago. I toured for an album that was called, “When You Get A Little Lonely.” It’s just always been a dream of mine to perform. I have always loved to sing, and I love country music. It was a really neat experience for me being able to tour around the country. I actually had the chance to tour years back with the cast members of the Brady Bunch as well. That was a lot of fun!

(CSC) 6. You’ve had the opportunity to participate in two reality television shows on CMT, “Gone Country,” and “Outsiders Inn” (Which also featured Carnie Wilson and Bobby Brown) what was that experience like for you being able to do reality television?

(Maureen McCormick)

It was great! It was so much fun, and I love Carnie and Bobby; it was great working with them! They were a blast to be around on the show. It was really, really, a fun show to do. I actually like doing reality television because you don’t have to memorize lines. Working on shows like the Brady Bunch, you had a script to memorize, and that is a lot more challenging than doing reality television.

(CSC) 7. On “Outsiders Inn” you were faced with a lot of unusual dilemmas and met some interesting folks at the Pigeon Manor, what are some crazy situations that you can recall?

(Maureen McCormick)

Oh gosh... Getting into a bathtub filled with lime jello with Carnie, having wild animals all throughout the house, it was just really crazy at that house! There was something new each day. I even had a nude carpenter make my sign at the resort, and that was really crazy! (Laughs)

(CSC) 8. This past April you had the chance to catch a Dolly Parton concert, and interview her in person afterwards. Please share your experience from that day with us! (I understand you are a HUGE fan!!)

(Maureen McCormick)

I am, and she is such a sweetheart! She’s really a great lady, and it was one of the best, most fun interviews that I’ve ever done. We did the interview upstairs inside her “Chasing Rainbows” museum after her concert that afternoon. She has a way about her that makes you feel really comfortable around her even if you are really nervous. (Laughs)

(CSC) 9. Do you and Dolly have plans for a duet anytime in the near future?

(Maureen McCormick)

I think we should! That would be really fun. (Laughs)

(CSC) 10. Moving forward, what would you like to share with the readers of this interview? What can they expect next from Maureen McCormick?!?

(Maureen McCormick)

Just that I love you all, hope you’re having a good life, and are blessed with all you wish for. I’d like to thank all my loyal fans as well for their love and support!
