“Pure Country Consumes the Senses at Joe's Bar”
Country Music superstar Joe Nichols came to town on Friday March 5th, 2010 to rockin’ music venue Joe’s Bar in
The show was opened by a pair of up and coming support acts, Chasin’ Mason and Country rocker Jeff Allen. The nearly sold out audience enjoyed both bands while they greatly anticipated Joe’s arrival to the concert stage.
Kicking off the show around 10pm, Joe opened the night up with the rowdy tune “Let’s Get Drunk and Fight” and “What’s a Guy Gotta Do.” Dressed casually, Joe wore a light blue checkered button down western shirt and a pair of blue jeans with boots. The adoring crowd of women gathered along the foot of the stage to cheer along and gaze over his handsomely good looks.
The thunderous applause and gracious welcoming from the audience were to be expected by the fans but still much appreciated by Joe. He humbly thanked the crowd of devoted attendees for coming and promised for a night of fun filled fanfare!
Joe offered the audience a vast collection of music from early on in his career all the way up until his most recent album “Old Things New” throughout the evening. It was a show that not only paid homage to the greats of the music business such as Merle Haggard and ZZ Top but it also took fans on a journey to the early days of Joe’s career visiting such songs as the tender ballad “The Impossible” and a story about love gone wrong also known as “Brokenheartsville” with a killer accompaniment from the Pedal Steel!!!
It was quite fitting for Joe to perform a cover of two very prominent Merle Haggard songs, “Okie From Muskogee” and “Makeup and Faded Blue Jeans.” I’ve said this before in previous reviews of Joe’s shows, somewhere in the middle there is a cross between George Jones, Merle Haggard and George Strait that resonates in the vocal abilities and persona exhibited by Joe. He has a unique talent and one that cannot be found in many. Joe Nichols is the modern day hero of country music, just like the ones in the past that come every once in a lifetime, he is one of those and for that he will survive the music business for as long as he chooses to record and tour.
There were many moments in the show that proved to be memorable such as the humorous “Cheaper Than A Shrink,” the upbeat “Size Matters” or the inspiring “We All Go Home.” Joe maintained a solid connection from the stage to the audience with each and every fan, he also took the time to sign autographs from the stage and shook hands with concertgoers.
Closing out the fantastic night of music, Joe ended the concert with smash hit “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” as his encore. We’d like to thank the great staff at Joe’s for allowing us to review the show and thank our readers for taking the time to read this review and continue to support Country Stars Central. God bless!! (Thanks to Tammy Calvey and Lauren Denemark for their assistance with the review.)
