We caught up with the lovely Crystal Gayle at her sister Loretta Lynn's Hurricane Mills Dude Ranch this past September during Loretta's 50th Anniversary Music Celebration to discuss her big sister Loretta, special presentation of her (Crystal Gayle) music career display inside the beautiful Coal Miners Daughter Museum, plans for new music and more! Thanks again to Darrell Beatty and Crystal Gayle for the opportunity.
(CSC) 1. Thanks for catching up with us here at Hurricane Mills, the beautiful home of your eldest sister Loretta!!
Oh it is so beautiful here. I love it. Every time I come down here to visit I always feel like I want to move here! (Laughs)
(CSC) 2. Last time we spoke, you were working in the studioÖ are you planning to release new music either sometime this year or early next?
I am and Iím still working on it. Iíve actually started two or three projects at the same time and thatís the wrong thing to do but Iíve got some really good songs that Iím getting ready to record back in the studio.
(CSC) 3. When you perform here at the ranch, does it take on a special form of precedence at all for you?
There is so much because itís a lot of family, friends and it is just like a big party. You probably wear yourself more than you would normally, but Iím having so much fun and I love it down here.
(CSC) 4. What a great honor it is for you to have a special display featured inside the Coal Minerís Daughter museum. What are some of the thoughts that first ran through your mind when you saw/heard about it?
I was very pleased and very happy that they wanted to include me in the museum. Itís very hard to figure out what to put there but I told them itís incredible. Just to be a part of my sisterís life and her career means a lot to me. Sheís a great sister besides being one of the best in the world at what she does. I feel very lucky to call her sister!
(CSC) 5. It doesnít get any closer than family, so tell us what is your most favorite memory when it comes to being Lorettaís younger sister?
I didnít grow up with my sister because she was already married and out of the house, there were eight of us and I was the last but when we were together it was never like we werenít apart. She is a great person and has that warm personality that makes anybody feel so welcome and so at home. When we do get together we are always picking up where we left up. It is like that with all of my brothers and sisters, we are very close and we had wonderful parents. We have a good family and I love them very much!
